National Indoor Plant Week - 2017

It's that time of year again!! It's NATIONAL INDOOR PLANT WEEK!! We are celebrating our 4th annual plant week on the streets of Boston. You can find us Tuesday, September 12th at 12:30 in front of 50 Post Office Square. We will be there at lunch time handing out baby azaelas (until supplies run out...and they go quickly)!! Come join us in the celebration of indoor plants and all that they do for us!! 

Benefits of Indoor Plants:

1. Purifies Air: Plants breakdown chemical components found in industrial glues and paints and remove other pollutants from the air

2. Noise Reduction: Reduces distractions and makes it much easier to concentrate

3. Creates Oxygen

4. Connects with Outdoors: Plants in the work-space give a sense of connection with nature (something you miss when you are inside all day)

5. Ease Tension: Plants moderate temperatures, increase relative humidity, and can personalize an office space

Faux Succulent Garden Construction

Just recently we installed this stunning faux succulent garden in a lobby in Boston. I figured I'd take pictures along the way during the 'construction.'

See how we made it:

Step 1 : First I had to know the dimensions of the planter bed. Lined up the green foam and cut to size. 

Step 2 : Using a sharpie I drew out the line that I wanted the succulents to follow; making sure to number them so that during installation we know what order each sheet of foam goes in.

Step 3 : The largest succulents we used were sedums. I wanted to make sure that they were spaced out appropriately so those were the first that I placed. (make sure to remove all tags from the items! You definitely don't want to see those ) Also! Make sure to leave enough space under each plant for the rocks (topdressing).

Step 4 : After placing the sedums, Started at the very beginning and created the "look" that I wanted for the whole display.

Step 5 : From there I created little groupings of the pops of bright green (I have a lot of the red succulents for filler!)

Step 6 : Then I added the red succulents and followed the line that I drew to get a beautiful wave. 

Step 7 : To make sure that everything would look right I tested out the look with rocks. 

Step 8 : Knowing that this display needs to be permanent I hot glued each succulent in place.

Viola! 

The Boston Flower Show

Every year the Boston Flower Show blows me away! Each display is a piece of art! The creativity that each team puts into designing their exhibit is just amazing. They are full of color, personality, and stunning plants. It really provides great inspiration for your gardens. 

We have been honored again to be a part of the window box display (see picture below!) and our owner, Beth, was a judge again!! We are so proud to be a part of such a wonderful network of people who pour their hearts and souls into their work and create such beauty for us to enjoy! 

The show runs from Wednesday the 22nd to Sunday the 26th, so make sure to check it out! 

I would love to spend the afternoon on that bench.

The 2017 Pantone color of the year is... Greenery!!! And we couldn't be more excited about this year's choice. What are most passionate about is greenery!! Our purpose is to bring the beauty of outside nature into people's offices and homes. Our designs are aimed to provide a feeling of freshness and life. We all have a sense of calm when we are around plants, and plants bring so many benefits to our living spaces. Greenery reminds us that we can start new and fresh each day!

Stunning New Install

Working in Boston gives us the opportunity to work in some AMAZING & innovative office spaces and with AMAZING property managers & designers. This install was for Aquent Boston, they have designed their office spaces to be inspiring and creative. Take a look at the different plants that we used in these awesome containers; while being in the same container each grouping gives a different feel to each location.
